Poor little Maddie. It’s been one week exactly and she’s still sedated. She is making progress but it is so slow. Though she’s a tough little peanut, her body is having a hard time adjusting to the changes since surgery.
We are holding up well, for the most part, but I have my moments. Colin maintains a peaceful perspective which helps when I would otherwise be freaking out. Thank goodness for his calm assurance that all will be OK.
But we’ve been here a long time. Two weeks. Fifteen days, to be precise. Just to give you a sense of how long that is in everyday terms, we’ve completed the following things:
- 1 bar of soap
- 2 rolls of toilet paper
- 6 loads of laundry
- 1 menstrual cycle (sorry, TMI!)
- 1 cold sore
- 1 sick kid
- 1 sick dad (Well, Colin is still sick)
- 3 novels (each)
We miss being in Santa Barbara, to be sure. But I’ve realized–or felt even more than before–that “home” is a relative term. Wherever my family is, there is my life.
We continue to pray and fast for Maddie’s recovery. Please join with us, if you will. Again, thank you all for your love and support.
