His first practice was today. Our good friend, Billy, graciously volunteered to coach his team. To add to the fun, Billy’s son and Warren’s buddy, Seth, is also a team member. Colin is assistant coach. The two made sure that the kids focused on having a great time, which they did. Warren and the four other little kids on his team kicked the ball around and ran until they were good and sweaty. I was surprised to see that some kids already had some mad soccer skills and others… well, let’s just say the learning curve varies greatly among players this age.
Ren really seemed to like it, though. He’s not very competitive, so getting him to move quickly was kind of tricky. He just liked casually kicking the ball and falling to the ground in the most dramatic fashion, vaguely reminiscent of many great Italian players. But his good attitude and willingness to give it a try were more than we could ask for at this point.
A good start to a fun and, we hope, life-long activity.
