Hitting the Gym

Warren started one sport this week and then added another today: gymnastics. He’d given it a tryout last winter and loved it. It’s just taken us this long to get our act together to sign him up. We put him in the kindergarten-age class with his friend, Seth– the same one he’s playing soccer with– so a familiar face helped him feel at ease.

He’s not the most courageous kid around, so we figured all the tumbling and jumping would do him some good. So far, yes! He ran right in and followed all the instructions given by his teacher. But best of all, he tried everything.

I could see the look of trepidation in his eyes when it came to swinging on the rope and falling into the foam block pit but he gave it a go anyway.

I love when he surprises me. Moments like this make me feel so proud of him.

  1. We have the same thing going with our kids- new classes- joy school, ballet, and swimming lessons. It starts next week and they say they don’t want to go (to different things at different times). I hope they change their minds.

  2. Oh my goodness, swinging into the foam pit was my FAVORITE!! When the classes got harder, it was our reward at the end of practice if we did well. Love it! Makes me want to go do it again.
