Warren turned five years old! How did this happen so fast? He has been excited for this day for a long time. What a momentous event in his life. Mine as well.
For the big day we took a trip to our local zoo. We shared brownies and laughs with our good friends.
The last pictures crack me up because this is what Warren wants to do the minute he arrives at the zoo. He “sleds” down the artificial turf “ant hill” on an old cardboard box we bring from home. Who says you need snow?
The big finale of the day was fish stick dinner with mashed potatoes and peas (his menu selection), a card (he requested one that plays music, so we got him “I Like to Move It Move It” from Madagascar 2), a present, and a super hero cake. I’m quite proud even though I ran out of red food coloring and the “S” turned out a little skimpy.
I tried to do a make-shift red but it turned out more rose-colored. Probably better off anyway since the thought of that much red dye #40 creeps me out more than a little. The two layers of Betty Crocker frosting was bad enough.
It’s OK because he compensated by adding even more sugar with his request for sprinkles on top. The cute birthday plate was made for us by Grandma Tuki.
At five years old, Warren loves the following (in no particular order): Catching lady bugs, fish sticks, swimming, candy and all sweets, taking a bath, animals of all kinds (especially cats and Husky dogs), the idea of being an orca trainer, Legos, all vehicles and machinery known to man, sticks, tape, Styrofoam, cardboard, rocks, dirt, creating and inventing…
He profoundly dislikes: Loud noises, the dark, unidentifiable flashing lights, shots, medical care and first aid of any kind…
Happy Birthday, Ren! We love the 5-year-old boy that you are!
