The 3rd of July

Since Independence Day fell on a Sunday this year, we decided to celebrate a day early. A Saturday with my family BBQ-ing and enjoying long conversations, and an evening with Danny, Julianna, Seth, Laura, and Ryan watching fireworks and eating fantastic cheesecake (nice work, Danny!) was the perfect way to commemorate our country’s birthday.

And it wouldn’t be the same without a little bit of fireworks on the 4th, so we snuck up on our roof after the kids went to bed and watched the display from Girsch Park as we ate Magic Cookie Bars.

Happy Independence Day, everyone!

  1. I love, love the way Maddie is looking up at your mom in that picture. It is just begging to be framed.

And, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for reminding me that I need to make magic cookie bars.
