The first weekend in August is one big party in Santa Barbara. It’s Fiesta time, a celebration of Old Spanish Days and the founding of this city. It’s a four-day event that includes multiple parades, music, dances, rodeos, and food. So much good food. Since the last few summers have had fires raging on the hillsides above the festivities, it’s been a while since we’ve joined in the celebration. No fun inhaling smoke and ash just to get some authentic tacos.
But this summer has been fire-free, albeit cloudy, so we decided to get our olé on and check out some of the events. Our friends, Mary Karlee, Marielle, and Jenna joined us for a fun afternoon downtown. We found the perfect spot to catch El Desfile Historico Parade, an equestrian promenade of sheriff’s posses, rodeo wranglers, and Flamenco dancers. ¡Viva La Fiesta!
