While we waited for the Fiesta Parade to begin, we let the kids roam around the historic Santa Barbara Amtrak station. If the station building wasn’t interesting enough, we found an old Southern Pacific business/observation car permanently parked on display. Apparently, it was the kind of train car that rich people would use to cross the country and vacation in beautiful, sunny California in the glory days of rail travel. Fully restored, it’s an impressive reminder of a mode of transportation once considered esteemed.
The kids had a blast exploring.
