Cardboard Boat Regatta

One of the fun summer traditions the youth of our church enjoy is the Cardboard Boat Regatta at Avila Beach hosted by the San Luis Obispo Stake. Every August, our stake is invited to participate in the construction and racing of boats made entirely of cardboard and duct tape. You can imagine.

Because Colin has been involved in one too many activities the last few months, the planning for this event kind of fell by the wayside. Consequently, he and I were up taping together a ridiculous boat until 9PM the night before.

The result: the boat we labored to build never got past the first set waves. On the other hand, the boat the boys dubbed “The Fail Boat,” hastily taped together at the last minute, made it out to the buoys and back again.

Entertaining and silly. The perfect combination for the youth to enjoy. Us too.
