Pumpkin Picking

Since we won’t be making another trip back to Avila Valley Barn before Halloween (soccer consumes our Saturdays) we decided to hit the local crops to pick our pumpkins. I’m only mildly disappointed.

Lane Farms has one advantage over Avila: an awesome corn maze. We spent a good 15 minutes winding our way through. Maddie had little patience for the adventure, but the rest of us enjoyed figuring out the complicated path.

It was nice to go when few people were there. Usually that place is packed.

We saw some cute animals, which both kids enjoyed petting.

...

Like most farms, they have a good (though expensive) variety of pumpkins. These ones always creep me out. I guess the kids felt the same way.

...

We snapped as many pictures of us smiling in front of the pumpkins and scarecrows as possible.

And, of course, we picked our pumpkins. Warren and Madeline rode with the newly purchased load in the wagon. Both got their fingers pinched but enjoyed the ride anyway.

I know what I’m going to be doing with those pumpkin seeds once we carve into those bad boys.

Happy Harvest!

  1. Your pumpkin patch look lots different than mine! We always have to wear rain boots and have the kids covered in hoods. The weather looks good for Mason’s field trip tomorrow. We’re keeping our fingers crossed!

  2. Can I just say how much I love pumpkin patch pictures with all the orange and tan and brown? Not sure why, they just really appeal to me.
